Schiehallion

On June 26th - a group of hardy souls braved the early start of 7.30 at ASDA to travel to Schiehallion and to meet some colleagues at the Braes of Foss car park. A total turnout of 18 walkers set off up Schiehallion from the car park led by Trevor Abell. The early start meant that we had a clear run free of other walkers on this popular Monro. The weather was kind and although there was some early cloud, it proved to be a dry walk with good views of Loch Rannoch. The new path built by the John Muir Trust meant that the route to the shoulder could be easily followed, but the boulder field that covers the upper slopes required full concentration. We made good time and began our descent before the flood of other walkers were on their ascent. A stop over at the House of Menzies for a refreshing cuppa was welcomed by many of the walkers.
